With some good falls of rain recorded, visitors have left ELDERS FARMFEST with a smile on their faces and renewed confidence that only good rain can bring.
QUEENSLAND’S premier field days play an important role in the lives of farmers in “the sunshine state” as they continue to meet the many challenges of living and working on the land.
Despite the fact that continuing drought has been making life difficult for most of Australia, and particularly the farming community, activities like Elders FarmFest are vital to the continuing well-being of the rural sector. Even when times are tough, agri-business needs to stay up to date with the latest products and services. Indeed, in difficult times, most farming enterprises work harder to make their operations more efficient and productive. By maintaining equipment and machinery in peak working order, including upgrading and replacing as possible, and by keeping on top of modern developments in services and technology, Australian farmers in particular maintain their reputation as among the world’s best in agribusiness. This year again, more than 2,000 companies participated in Elders FarmFest, confirming the Darling Downs based field days as the biggest and most successful annual agricultural event in Queensland and one of the most substantial in Australia. More than 80,000 visitors are estimated to have attended during the giant event’s three days as exhibitors set-up extensive displays and exhibits to showcase, highlight and demonstrate a vast range of products and services including many new developments highlighting new technology and innovation and providing information to professionals on the land. General Manager of Rural Press Events, Elders FarmFest organisers, Barry Harley is confident that, given the strength and diversity of exhibitor numbers again this year, visitors were impressed and well served.
