Timely rain a curtain-raiser to Elders FarmFest 2008

Although some areas of Australia are still suffering less than ideal weather conditions, timely rain in many parts of southern Queensland and Northern NSW is coming as a welcome curtain-raiser to Elders FarmFest 2008 which gets underway in Toowoomba tomorrow (Tuesday June 3).

Elders FarmFest organisers are anticipating big crowds at the huge rural and agricultural field day which runs for three days this week, Tuesday 3rd to Thursday 5th June.

With more than 2,500 companies participating, some 70,000 plus visitors are expected to converge on the dedicated 36 hectare display area on the Warrego Highway at Kingsthorpe, via Toowoomba, Queensland.

To handle this huge crowd, Elders FarmFest has developed a sophisticated infrastructure.

To help visitors find their way around the substantial grounds, Elders FarmFest supporter Queensland Country Life has produced tens of thousand of free Handbooks to the event containing site plans, shopping arcade and pavilion plans, participant listings, products on display, details of amenities and a host of other information.

For people who don’t want to walk from the carpark to the static display area, Elders FarmFest provides free people carriers which operate continuously every day between the carpark and the static display.

To feed the thousands of visitors, Elders FarmFest runs an extensive catering service capable of offering visitors and participants a wide range of takeaway food of all kinds from fresh strawberries, baked potatoes and specialised dairy products through to the traditional meat pies and steak sandwiches. There are even two bars operating on the field.

For drivers, Elders FarmFest is well provided for with extensive car parks and a team of traffic marshalls to make sure parking is easy.

Elders FarmFest is set to be a bumper event in 2008.

Elders FarmFest is staged on the FarmFest site at Kingsthorpe Park on the Warrego Highway, 20kms west of Toowoomba. Visitor carparks open at 8.30am with general public admission open from 9.00am to 5.00pm daily.
