CROWDS came out in force for the 55th Texas Show, undeterred by 50mm of rain which fell in the two days prior.
The show was opened by Estelle Drynan, senior vice-president of Queensland Shows.
In her address, she was glowing of the grounds and the dedication of the committee.
She also outlined the benefits of Shows to the communities that they served.
Mrs Drynan presented committee treasurer Betty Cleeve an award for 25 years of service to the Texas Show Society.
At the official opening, Texas Show president Greg Finlay described the event as "a good news story”.
“We are strong, dedicated and Texas was fortunate to have such people to put on such a great event for our town.”

Ring and Show jumping events still paraded, as did the stud cattle, though some numbers were down due to the rain.
The Paint Horse section was new this year to the Texas Show.
With Texas being the last show before the Ekka, many competitors travelled considerable distances to compete; particularly to get more points or competition practice.
Bruce Finlay won the Champion Fat Beast of the Show.
Pavilion entries were strong again and flower judges Brian and Mary Burnell from Stanthorpe said that the quality of entries had even surpassed last year's strong showing.
The "specialty made by the home handyman" was a feature in this year’s cooking section.
Scrapbooking entries were up as were the dog judging entries of 112 nominations on Sunday morning - a record for Texas Show.
The Texas Show Rodeo was a huge success with large crowds turning out for the big bucking action.
A full program of events and competitors from Canada, USA, and interstate entertained, but it was local boy Ryan Blackford who won over the crowds when he took out the Rookie event.
A full programme of campdrafting events for Sunday had to be cancelled due to continued heavy falls Friday afternoon and evening.
