DEMAND for Taroom property continues with the 2573-hectare (6359 acre) Belle Eau selling at auction for $3.35 million yesterday.
The Queensland property sold for the equivalent of $1302/ha ($526/acre) to Bill and Gail Blackley, Biloela, Wandoan.
Belle Eau is estimated to carry 550-600 breeders. Using a calculation based on 550 breeding cows the price is equal to about $6091/breeder area.
Landmark Harcourts manager David McPaul, Taroom, said the property had received 25 inspections with 12 parties registering to bid at the auction in Taroom.
Belle Eau is located 40 kilometres north-west of Taroom and is described as being 60 per cent brigalow, bottletree and softwood scrub country heavily grassed with buffel. Areas have been blade ploughed and re-pulled.
The balance is sandy loam country with native grasses and some buffel.
Improvements include an old homestead, sheds, yards, eight paddocks, four bores and three dams.
Belle Eau was sold to finalise a deceased estate. The marketing agents were David McPaul and Darryl Langton from Landmark Harcourts. The auctioneer was Terry Ryan.
