WARM, sunny weather and high-quality exhibits led to an increase in numbers at the 106th annual Oakey Show on Saturday.
MORE than 1000 people attended the event, with the strong showing in the cattle and horse rings attracting plenty of attention.
Oakey Agricultural, Pastoral and Rodeo Society president Geoff Byers Geoff Byers said there was very good support from all sectors.
“It was great to see so many exhibitors and members of the public supporting the event,” he said.
“We had very good numbers in the horse ring, beef cattle numbers were strong and exhibits were good right throughout all areas.”

There was plenty of talk at the show about the 50th anniversary of Oakey State High School, which will be celebrated on May 17.
An official ceremony, group photos, tours of the school and dinner will be held to mark the occasion.
Past and present students, parents and community members are welcome to attend.
Oakey SHS 50th anniversary celebrations committee member Joanne Evans said the preparations were all coming together.
“The difficulty is always finding people because a lot of people move on,” she said.
“We encourage everyone to come back for the day with a ‘60s flavour – it’s the 50th anniversary of the school and also the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ visit to Australia as well.”
