BRIGALOW Research Station at Moura has sold at auction for $5.5 million to a consortium of local landholders.
The highly developed 3300-hectare (8155-acre) freehold property, on behalf of the Queensland Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, sold for the equivalent of $1688/ha ($683/ac) to KCR13 Investments.
Located 45km from Moura, Brigalow is noted for its extensive water system.
Improvements include nine homes, quarters, sheds, feedlot, and two sets of cattle yards.
Marketing agent Howard Mills, Mills Rural Property Services, said there had been 15 inspections made of the property, with eight parties registering to bid at the March 6 auction.
Bidding started at $3m.
The Brigalow sale follows the November 21 sale of DAFF's 14,325ha (35,397ac) Toorak Research Station at Julia Creek for $3.5m.
