Former Southern Downs Regional councillor Jamie Mackenzie was found dead on his property at Killarney.
FORMER Southern Downs Regional councillor Jamie Mackenzie was found dead on his property Gravel Creek at Killarney yesterday afternoon.
Police say death was not being treated as suspicious. It follows Mr Mackenzie disqualification as a councillor earlier this week. He was declared bankrupt on February 2.
A special meeting which was scheduled for today by the Southern Downs Regional Council to officially address the situation created by Mr Mackenzie’s departure from council was canceled.
The tragic news comes only a little more than a month before Queensland’s Local Government elections which will be held on March 19.
