SARDINE Creek, a 23,900-hectare (59,057 acre) pastoral lease at the base of the Carnarvon Ranges, is being offered 1500 quality EU breeders their progeny and bulls.
Located 50km north of Injune and 123km south of Rolleston, the property will be auctioned by Ray White Rural in Brisbane on April 15.
Sardine Creek is dissected by its namesake. The land either side of Sardine Creek has been selectively cleared on the flats and hollows before rising into ridges. These areas were timbered with wilga, broadleaf ironbark, sandalwood, box and pockets of brigalow.
About 6000ha has been developed as shaded grazing with the balance rising into ridges of remnant forest. The property has been aerial seeded with buffel and Rhodes grass flown on the cleared country and green panic over the gullies and higher country. These improved pastures are supported by bluegrass, native couch, Rhodes and summer grasses. Seca has also been added over the past five years.
The property is watered by six bores, 16 dams and numerous permanent and semi-permanent holes in Sardine Creek. The average annual rainfall is 700mm.
The property is generally fully boundary fenced, excluding some areas of natural boundaries towards the higher ridges on the north-eastern boundary. The estimated carry capacity is 1800 breeders and replacement heifers.
Infrastructure includes an air-conditioned container that has converted into living quarters, and two sets of cattle yards.
Marketing agent Richard Brosnan said it was a rare opportunity to acquire an efficient and low-cost breeding EU accredited property with an entire herd in close proximity to markets.
