THE Northern Territory cattle stations Conways and Mary River East have been listed on market, both on a walk-in, walk-out basis.
Conways Station is on the market for $9.25 million, while Mary River East Station is asking $6m, excluding GST.
Selling agent Gunter Trnka from NT Realty in Darwin said the properties were in close proximity and were placed to capitalise on the live export market.
“The best thing about these properties, is numbers of cattle can be substantially increased with further fencing and water points and they are both for sale as a going concerns on a walk-in walk-out basis,” Mr Trnka said.
Conways Station covers 140,000 hectares (343,970 acres). The perpetual pastoral lease is located 180km from Katherine and has rivers, creeks and waterways, four bores and permanent springs.
Presently only about a third of the station is fenced and used for cattle. The balance of the country is used for safari hunting buffalo.
Conways is described as well managed and about 5000 cattle on hand. The station exports about 1300 to 1500 head cattle annually from its breeding program.
The property also adjoins Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land and boasts picturesque escarpment country.
Improvements include a new four bedroom home and a manager’s residence.
Mary River East is a perpertual pastoral lease covering 134,483ha (332,314 acres). The station is located 120km from Katherine. There is about 40,000ha fenced.
The property has been run mainly as a hunting ranch. At present stock on hand is 300 cattle, 500 Banteng, 400-plus deer and African antelope. The Banteng herd is regarded as the biggest in Australia.
Improvements include a four bedroom home, a manager’s residence, and a bungalow with 13 beds.
“With a lots infrastructure and chattels on hand, its ready for new owner to walk in and keep improving the property, it is estimated the carrying capacity would be 3000-4000 head cattle now,” Mr Trnka said.
“With southern portion fenced off and water points installed it could run a further 2000 head for total of 5000 to 6000 breeders.”
