Sustained and strong demand coupled with a massive show of return clientele saw Senepol bulls hit a high of $16,000, Senepol African hybrids make to $8500, Senegus hit $6500 and Senelais sell to $8000 at Monday’s annual 5 Star Senepol Sale, CQLX, Gracemere.
Vendors, Geoff and Alison Maynard saw their product sell to two states culminating in a complete clearance on the way to setting a bottom line average of $7569. The medium set was an increase of $724 per head over the 2015 result.
Breaking down the catalogue revealed 44 Senepol bulls set an $8431 average, an increase of $707/head over the previous result. Seven Senepol/African hybrids averaged $7143 ($493/head increase) and seven Senegus sold for on average $6000, up $357 on the 2015 result. Fourteen Senelais provided their owners with a $5857 medium that was a $532/head reduction on last year’s values.
Market honours at $16,000 went to 5 Star 15-0001, a 25-month-old, 678kg, (5 Star Longfellow) selling to regulars, Alistair and Jo McClymont, Burleigh Station, Richmond. Acting for the family was Ken Roche, Marlborough who signed off on five for an average $12,000. Included in their haul was the $15,000, 15-253 (22-months) (AACo SE6R 128 (ET)).
Long term supporters, Lyndon and Dereck Goddard, Eucumbene, Bollon returned to take six to average $8333 topping at $12,000 for the 23-month-old, 15-SS45 (5 Star Whisperer).
Grant and Carly Burnham, Bonnie Doone, Monto also returned taking with them five for a $6500 average topping at $8000 for a 22-month-old, 5 Star Mojo son. Others to lend their support were the Cedar Creek Grazing, Cedar Creek, Gogango taking a trio to average $10,667 topping at $14,000 for a 22-month-old, 706kg, 120EMA, 15-0290 (5 Star Mocha). Michael Noon, Glenalvon, Mitchell also signed off on a trio for on average $9667 with the top there being $13,500 for a grandson of 5 Star Longfellow.
Julia Creek producers, the Curr family, Hilton Park selected three topping at $15,000 to average $9667. The Curr’s $15,000 selection was a 23-month-old 15-0796 (AA Company SE5Q055). Peter and Katrina Spies, Pinnacle Pocket, Tolga travelled down to take a pair for on average $6750 while AuctionsPlus through Colin Campbell signed off no five for a $5900 average. Top of these was the $7000 entry, Lot 67.
Edward and Anna Bassett, Jenavale, Roma returned for a single purchase, the $14,000 15-0038 (Quirran-Lea Fagan) while T and T Cattle Company, Gracemere signed off on six for a $7417 medium, topping at $8500 on two occasions. Regulars, Allan Stevenson and family, Spring Creek, Springsure returned selecting the $10,000 15-0394 (20-months). Ken Braithwaite, Winchester Downs, Moranbah returned to take a pair for on average $6250.
