After almost 20 years choosing the same machinery brand, Shepparton cattle farmer, Albert Qose began the move to a mix of PFG brands including Kverneland Taarup, Vicon and McHale some 18 months ago.
Together with his son Joel, Mr Qose runs Angus beef cattle, grows fodder and does some contracting.
He said their machinery requirements are straightforward.
“We need machines we can hook up and away we go, and go, and go, with no problems.
“They’ve got to be efficient and reliable.
“I can’t have machines that take up time because I don’t have time to spare,” he said.
The family has focussed on PFG distributed hay equipment having bought a McHale V640 variable chamber baler and 991t high speed bale wrapper, a 9472c Kverneland Taarup twin rotary rake, a 4332ct Kverneland Taarup mower conditioner and, more recently, a Vicon RotaFlow twin disc spreader.
Mr Qose has experience with baler wrappers and likes what the McHale offers.
“I like the McHale technology and the way it’s built.
“It’s robust, and it’s got a very good reputation for reliability and the wrapper is quick and gives us what we need,” he said.
They chose a Vicon linkage spreader because of the accuracy of the spread pattern and lower ground impact.
“When it came to the choice of Kverneland Taarup machinery, we know others who use the brand, including a couple of contractors who’ve got Kverneland Taarup machines because they’re good and reliable.
“But it’s not so much about the brand,” he reckoned.
“It’s about how good the machines are, how reliable, and how easy they are to maintain,” he said.
He said the quality of service a dealer provides is very important and it’s one reason customers keep going back.
