BLUE ribbon Longreach property Glenthomson has sold for $8.4 million, bare of cattle, to Brah-Lim Cattle Pty Ltd as trustee for The AR Purvis Family Trust from Augathella. .
The sale was negotiated by Ben Forrest and Rawdon Briggs of Colliers International.
The sale price is equal to about $267/ha ($108/acre).
“This property is held in high regard for its location and scope,” Mr Forrest said.
“The substantial 31,486 hectare (77,803 acre) property is owned by Rod and Leilani Ross who decided to sell given their four sons have chosen to follow professional pursuits away from the land.
“Glenthomson is located in a successful sheep breeding district - and the property itself is testament to this.
“It has a large carrying capacity and is currently running 20,000 sheep and 1800 cattle.
“Country is mostly open to lightly shaded boree, whitewood, gidgea, and supplejack gently undulating downs with heavy Mitchell pastures along with Flinders and buffel, with exceptional stands of herbages this season.
“It offers a total of 24 dams, and is also watered by three creeks which traverse the property.”
Infrastructure includes two shearing sheds, machinery and hay sheds, and two sets of cattle yards.
The structural improvements have been carried out to allow for both mixed grazing and breeding including two homesteads, each with five bedrooms.
“This is an excellent property with great owners, and it was our pleasure to deliver such an exceptional result for them,” Mr Briggs said.
Glenthomson is located 30km south of Longreach.
