THE significant Blackall property Listowel Downs was passed in on a vendor bid of $12.5 million at a Colliers International auction in Brisbane this morning.
Located 80km south of Blackall on the black soil downs country, Listowel Downs described as a significant beef and sheep property that suits the serious producer looking for scale and quality country.
The carrying capacity of the 25,702 hectare (63,513 acre) property is an estimated 4000 to 5000 cattle or 20,000 to 25,000 sheep.
It is understood there has been strong interest in the property and negotiations are continuing according to marketing agent Ben Forrest.
With its clay soils and lightly shaded gidgee and boree timber, the country type is well suited to breeding and finishing on Mitchell and buffel grasses and a variety of annual herbages currently in season.
Improvements are described as being in good condition and include dams plus tank and trough facilities, good fencing across the 28 paddocks, two sets of cattle yards, a four bedroom homestead and cottage, living quarters, workshop and sheds.
