A DRAFT of 1500 quality cows and calves are being offered with GP Cattle’s 99,957 hectare (247,000 acre) Ilfracombe property Portland Downs.
Marketing agent Dick Allpass, Elders, said offers of more than $80/acre, in line with comparative values in the area, were now being sought.
That puts the asking price at about $20 million.
Portland Downs is estimated to carry about 6000 cows and progeny or 60,000 sheep and cattle.
“Since it was auctioned in June, Portland has received more than 250mm of rain and was enjoying an excellent season,” Mr Allpass said
“Portland Downs is a name property with history and performance credentials for both sheep and cattle.”
Portland Downs is a well improved, predominantly freehold, with sweet gidyea, boree, whitewood and coolibah country. It has a double frontage to the Barcoo River.
