HUNDREDS of landholders, business owners, and concerned citizens came together this afternoon to rally against the proposed compulsory land acquisitions for the expansion of the Shoalwater Bay defence expansion.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk was on-hand to address the crowds, but it was Marlborough landholder Philippa Rea who caught the crowd’s attention.
Speaking for more than 15 minutes to the crowd, Ms Rea spoke not only about the impacts the acquisitions would have on landholders, but also the small town of Marlborough.
She said businesses owners had grave concerns about the future of the town, with 38 farming families potentially losing their homes, and leaving the community.
