A total of 733 head were yarded at Stariha Auctions Laidley cattle sale on Thursday. Over 100 vendors sold on a market which remained fully firm for all descriptions, except heavy cows, which were easier. Strong support from western buyers and feedlots, ensured vendors went away happy.
Gerber Farms, Clarendon, sold lines of first calf Charbray heifers with young calves at foot, for $1800. Errol & Julie also sold a line of first calf Brahman heifers for $1800. Greg Muller, Summerholme, sold Droughtmaster steers, 20 months, for $1540 and heifers for $1320. Brisbane Valley Protein, Coominya, sold lines of Charbray heifers, 12-14 months, for $1100-$1200. Alan Bird, Beaudesert, sold Droughtmaster heifers to a top of $1010.
Trevor and Dot Manteufel, Laidley, sold Charolais milk tooth steers for $1380. Evans Family, Ma Ma Creek, sold 13 month old Droughtmaster steers for an impressive $1300. Shaun O’Rourke, West Haldon, sold Charbray steers, 12-14 months, for $1100 and Charolais heifers for $1240. Gary Issell, Buaraba, sold Droughtmaster weaner steers for $1000. Troy Turner, Rosewood, sold Angus steer calves for $935. Mark Baker, Blenheim, sold a line of Charbray male calves, 5-6 months, for $890.
Richard Fuller and Toni Williamson, Haden, sold Limousin cross calves, 7-8 months, for $900 and cows and calves for $1580. Bevan and Carol Scheiwe, Thornton, sold Droughtmaster cows and calves for $1860. Jim and Janice Spreadborough, Blenheim, sold Charolais cows and calves for $1800. Neil Natalier, Gatton, sold Charolais steers for $1280 and heifers for $960. David Wilson, Carpendale, sold Droughtmaster heifers for $1140 and an Angus bull for $1740. Charolais cows from Thornton sold for $1230 and 15 month old steers made $1300.
