IT may have taken 20 years but the Cunnamulla Dingoes have finally tasted victory again.
In their final game of a two match series against the St George Frillnecks, the revived rugby union side claimed victory 5-0 in St George on Saturday.
Another strong crowd turned out to watch the hard fought match with Cunnamulla finally crossing the line in the third quarter.
While the teams made it through this match with less injuries, there were plenty of sore heads around town after the Dingoes’ tour bus returned to town on Sunday where celebrations continued.
Again a strong turn out of 27 players donned the Cunnamulla gold jersey and will now eagerly await for the series to return next year.
Cunnamulla team manager Jesse Moody said the strong response from players and fans could see next year’s event a best of three series.
“We are over the moon to get a win,” he said
“They got a win, we got a win but they are claiming they won the series on for and against.”
The rivalry between these two clubs isn’t set to soften anytime soon.
