CROWDS flocked to Tooloombilla on the weekend for three action packed days of rodeo, campdraft and gymkhana fun.
This year was the first time rodeo and campdrafting events were held under lights, proving to be a huge success.
The Maranoa Challenge, an event for local riders to showcase their bush dressage, was won by Jane Lee, Injune.
The dual Campdraft and Bronc ride event was taken out by Ken Knudsen, Chinchilla, with Cameron Lee, Injune and Joe Duggan, Morven both coming in second.
In the bucking bull action, Russell Holzwart claimed the Men’s Bull Ride title while Malcolm Woodward won the Novice Bull Ride.
Lachlan Sheppard took out the Open Saddle Ride with AJ Reilly taking home the All Round Cowboy award. Kylie Corkill was crowned the All Round Cowgirl.
Local Ben Walsh won the Bareback Ride and first timer Damien Brennan won the Juvenile Bareback Bronc.
Roma siblings Teal and Cobin Ayes joined forces to claim the Team Roping event.
Publicity officer Sally McGilvray said the event was put on by a team of hardworking volunteers.
“The wonderful volunteer help from our committee does an amazing job to pull off such a high quality bush event which is one of a kind and is why numbers keep increasing every year and why people travel such big distances for the weekend,” publicity officer Sally McGilvray said.
“It is a credit to everyone involved.”
Money raised from the event will be donated to The Royal Flying Doctors Service and the local Injune and Mitchell Ambulance services.
