In a unanimous vote by the judges, Springwaters Stud, Boorowa, has been crown the supreme prime lamb exhibit at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, as the Poll Dorset breed dominates the elite titles.
A prelude to his current industry supremacy, Springwaters 66-16 won the champion ram lamb at the Australiasian Dorset Championship, Bendigo as a five month-old, before going onto win the prestigious supreme prime lamb ram exhibit, followed by supreme prime lamb title.
In earlier breed judging, the April 2016-drop ram won first place in class showing milk teeth only, bare shorn, before climbing all the major broad ribbon ranks to take out the top title with a clear margin, according to officials.
Poll Dorset and interbreed judge Garry Armstrong, Armdale and Armdale Park Studs, Marrar, regarded him as one extremely correct ram.
He is one of the most correct rams he has ever seen, Mr Armstrong said.
He has beautiful depth of body, and meat right down the outside of both legs.
His dominance was backed-up by his first-place win in the objective measurement class, weighing in at 125 kilograms, with an eye muscle diameter of 44 centimetres squared and a fat depth of 6.5 millimetres.
The breeds success was widespread with the supreme prime lamb ewe being sashed to Tattykeel 160321, exhibited by the Gilmore family from Tattykeel Stud, Oberon.
The April 2016-drop ewe was by dominant stud sire, Tattykeel Immortal - a ram that won a number of accolades in 2014, including supreme exhibit at the NSW Sheep Show, Dubbo.
It was a show debut for the striking Tattykeel ewe who will attempt to back-up her success at Dubbo and Australian Sheep and Wool Show, Bendigo, Vic.
The ewe joined forces with her Tattykeel stud-mates, including the reserve grand champion Poll Dorset, to take-out the esteemed Peter Taylor Trophy for the interbreed group of one ram and two ewes.
