Mareeba Combined Agents penned a total of 534 head at this week’s prime and store cattle sale. Two major export processors, two local processors, one lotfeeder and a small group of restockers and fatteners attended.
Butchers steers remained firm in value in line with current export processing prices in the past week. Demand for primal cuts into the export markets have fallen recently and exporters have reacted by trimming up to 25c/kg on the grid price.
Wholesale cow values lost 8c for the best on offer. Export cows were back in value by 8c. Export bulls improved by 13c, with stronger competition. Good quality stores are maintaining strong values.
