DISCUSSIONS are continuing following the auction of the Taroom grazing property Box Flat.
The 7667 hectare (18,945 acre) property was passed in for $10.5 million by Landmark Harcourts in front of a crowd of about 80 people. Seven parties had registered to bid.
Bought in 2000 by the current owners Bevan and Jo Wilson, Box Flat has been developed into large scale beef business estimated to run 2500 steers or the breeder equivalent, .
Box Flat comprises of 6770ha (16,729acres) freehold and 897ha (2216 acres) of leasehold.
The property is located 41km north west of Taroom. Land types include undulating developed brigalow and softwood vine scrub country running to improved ironbark, box country with some timbered ironbark ridge and forest. Brigalow, bottletree and scrub country has been developed by pulling, burning, pelleting and ploughing.
Box Flat is divided into 43 grazing and holding paddocks with squares. Improvements include two sets of timber yards connected by laneways, a four bedroom homestead, vehicle shed/workshop with coldroom, hay/nachinery shed, silos, and ATCO quarters.
