GRAINCORP has come to an agreement with its Victorian workers, negotiating an enterprise bargaining agreement for the next three years.

Workers voted last week to approve a deal which provides a pay increase of 2 per cent every year for the next three years.

GrainCorp had been negotiating with the relevant union, the Australian Workers Union (AWU) but talks broke down, leading GrainCorp to put their offer direct to the workers.

Between 85-90 permanent workers, along with a casual harvest workforce of up to 1000 are impacted by the new deal.

GrainCorp Victorian Regional Manager Peter Johnston, who had been confident in brokering a deal in spite of a highly unionised workforce, was delighted with the outcome.

“We are pleased to have a secured a fair and reasonable outcome for our workers and the business,” he said.

“I want to thank our workers for the professional way they conducted themselves throughout this process.”

With the EBA out the way, Mr Johnston said GrainCorp would now look getting its facilities ready for the upcoming harvest, which is tracking well through most of the key Victorian production zones.

“Our focus is now ensuring we are ready to deliver for our customers in the upcoming harvest,” he said.

Once ratified by the Fair Work Commission, the new agreement will take effect and be valid through to 2020.
