Tracey Bennett was honoured to compete at the 2017 National Championships in the stud meat sheep judging during the Melbourne Royal Show in which she was placed runner-up.
Jo Balcombe, Canowindra, New South Wales from Cranbrook Poll Dorsets placed first in the competition.
Tracey Bennett, 24, Sumner Park, Brisbane has been participating in young judges since she was 13 and has been showing sheep for Silverdale Dorset Stud at Inglewood for the past seven years plus started out with her high school show team Rochedale State High School at the age of 13 in 2006.
"I think the young judges competition is a fantastic way for students and young people to get some hands on experience in the agricultural industry," Ms Bennett said.
The journey to the Rural Ambassador National Championships started in 2015 for Ms Bennett who won the meat sheep young judges competition at Queensland Royal Show.
She then went on to take out the State final’s meat sheep young judges competition at Toowoomba Royal Show in 2016.
Everything came together for Ms Bennett on Monday, who hopes to continue a career in the sheep industry, when she was awarded runner-up in the National meat sheep young judges competition at Melbourne Show.
