FARMERS with small tractors can now mow like the big boys with the release of the Kverneland 4140L trailed disc mower.

This new addition to the 2017 mower conditioner range will operate on a low minimum of 63 kilowatts, while still maintaining a mowing width of just under 4 metres, according to the released specifications.

Kverneland said on release that the responsive flotation system enables the mower to adapt to ground contour, improving grass flow and handling.

The range of flotation is 35cm upwards and 23cm downwards ensuring even pressure across the cutter bar even in undulating conditions, it said.

Kvernealnd said another feature was a sideways adaption system which allows a swivel of 8.5 degrees.

“These abilities prove valuable on hillsides, along ditches and give the benefit of improved control on the headlands,” it said.

Other features mentioned include a swivel hitch gearbox allowing tighter turning and the fully welded cutter bar with round discs.

“Extremely strong round discs are used to achieve a clean and aggressive cut,” it said.

“As stones are expelled easily there is less susceptibility to stone damage and jamming incidents, so low maintenance and repair costs are achieved.”

Kverneland said the 4140L offers all the features of a larger mower, but with the ability to be operated by a smaller tractor.

“Smaller tractors can now be utilised as an important part of the grass harvesting team,” it said.
