Drought stricken producers in southern Queensland have until December 31, to apply for hardship funding relief through Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Queensland Limited.
Chief Executive Officer of Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Queensland Ltd, Derek Tuffield said his organisation has been granted an additional $30,000 by the State Government through the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services, as part of the departments ‘Community Drought Support Package’.
Mr Tuffield said the funding would be allocated as hardship relief for producers to assist with paying overdue accounts such as electricity, medical, food, telephone and car registration.
“It is a simple process to apply for this funding and will be paid into producer’s bank accounts electronically,” Mr Tuffield said.
“It is important to select the correct bank account so those receiving the payment can access it.”
The funding is available for residents in the Darling Downs, and south-west Queensland, as far north to Tambo.
Mr Tuffield said there is always a hesitancy for producers to take up theses offers.
“Lifeline encourages people in need to apply as this funding is easy to apply for and can ease a small amount of pressure,” he said.
“We have a limited funding pool of $30,000 to distribute, and are looking to pay accounts from $500 to $1000.
