Tireless fundraising efforts and hard work does pay off, especially for the volunteers of the Stonehenge RFDS Auxiliary who recently made a sizable donation of $18,000 to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
The auxiliary consists of about 10 members; however, the wider Stonehenge community of about 40 people is very active in supporting the lifesaving work of the RFDS.
Most of the funds were raised through catering at local events, clearing sales and for charity car rally convoys that travel through the Channel Country.
The cheque was presented during a brief visit to the region by senior RFDS delegates and corporate RFDS supporters on a grass roots tour of Queensland.
Rob Needham of the RFDS Queensland Section told those present that the donation will be put towards the cost of fitting out a new Beechcraft 350 aircraft that is soon to join the fleet of aircraft servicing Queensland.
Approaching its 72nd year of operation, the Stonehenge RFDS auxiliary doesn’t plan to slow down its fundraising efforts anytime soon, with a 90 years of RFDS celebration ball and dinner to be held at Stonehenge in late July 2018.
