Troy Palmer, Coolah, NSW has been crowned the 2017 Warwick Gold Cup winner on Who’s Divine.
A four-way tie at the end of the final meant Mr Palmer had to run off against Steve Comiskey, Tom Williamson and Scott Bandy in a nail-biting thriller.
Mr Palmer and Who’s Divine managed to take the win convincingly, four points ahead of second place.
Mr Palmer said the win feels awesome.
“It’s been a long time coming,” he said.
This is the first Gold Cup win for Mr Palmer, who has been attending the Warwick Campdraft for nearly 30 years.
Who’s Divine is owned by Richard Bull, Tamworth, and is a horse that Mr Palmer said he had a great deal of confidence in going into the event.
“She was a few points behind the lead, but I knew she was good enough to run 89, 90, or 91 if I needed to, so she come through for me,” he said.
