FPT showcased their V20 Stage V diesel engine at Agritechnica this month.
Dedicated to harvesting applications, FPT said the engine was the best in it’s class for power-to-weight ratio and for compactness.
In a media release, FPT Industrial said the V20 is a 20 litre engine with a 90 degree V8 cylinder architecture capable of delivering a maximum power of up to 680 kW (910 hp) at 1,800 revs per minute and maximum torque of up to 4,100 Nm.
“Thanks to a 2,200 bar common rail injection system and electronic control unit it has an high system efficiency and low fluid consumption,” FPT said.
FPT said the engine design permits up to 2 pc fuel savings compared to V12 cylinder engine averages, due to lower friction and smaller displacement.
“Furthermore, the cross-bank exhaust system design releases optimal turbocharger fluid-dynamics for maximum efficiency,” FPT said.
