PREMIER Annastacia Palaszczuk was quick to spruik facts and figures of the importance of agriculture during a trip to the Roma saleyards today but says she won't budge on her election promise to strengthen vegetation management laws.

The Premier made a visit to the Roma saleyards this morning where she announced a new Farm Debt Restructure Office was now open in the town offering free expert financial analysis and advice for primary producers experiencing financial distress.

During a press conference at the saleyards, the Premier was quick to voice her opinions on the tough times producers were going through with dry conditions and the need to support the industry.

But when asked if she had spoken with locals about vegetation management laws she intended to reinforce, it wasn’t the positive news some may have been hoping for.

“Let’s just make it very clear, everyone knows our election commitment and we will be honouring our election commitments,” she said.

“Of course, through the committee process there will be ample opportunity for people to have their say. We will not be bypassing the committee process and people will be able to have their say there.”

The Premier along with Minister for Agricultural Industry Development Mark Furner and Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy Anthony Lynham left the saleyards to visit the Western Downs Solar Farm at Kogan.

The Farm Debt Restructure Office will be overseen by the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority.
