THERE was no need for redemption when Ooline Shawshank stepped into the ring at the Big Country Brahman Sale this week, as the bull quickly soared to sell for $42,500 to top the red bulls.
The sale was held in Charters Towers this week, with selling beginning on Monday at the Dalrymple Sale Yards.
The red bulls led the charge on the first day of selling and saw 115 bulls of 131 offered sell for an average of $9210. The reds grossed $1,059,000 for a clearance of 91 per cent.
Topping the red bulls was Ooline’s Shawshank 1076 (P), who was snapped up by Kelly and Lucy Daley, Katherine Downs, Katherine, Northern Territory.
Also on the first day of selling was the heifer sale, which saw 46 of 47 females sell for a clearance of 98pc, and average of $4675, and a gross of $215,000.
Topping the heifers was Lanes Creek Cindy 1778, who sold for $16,000 to Geoff Brown, Georgetown.
