AGQUIP has dominated the machinery field day space in Australia for 45 years, however the resurgence of local events in NSW has farmers questioning, is there such a thing as too much machinery?
The answer is no.
This weekend marks the third annual Coonamble Ag Field Day.
Sponsored by Delta Agribusiness and Dubbo City Toyota, all profits from the day are invested back into the Coonamble community.
Field day committee secretary and treasurer, Andrew Shearer, said the field day aims to provide an exhibition space for the latest in agricultural machinery, equipment and services.
“It gives farmers in the Coonamble shire and surrounding districts, access to current and future leading edge technology,” he said.
“The timing is different to other field days, which was intentional.
“Farmers can shop for the current season and place an order in-time for harvest.”
Mr Shearer said both exhibitors and visitors continued to grow exponentially.
“The day continues to grow and is showing potential to become a significant meeting place of farmers and businesses in the north west of NSW,” he said.
Mr Shearer said holding field days locally meant supporting local business.
“It gives local farmers a chance to catch up and it gives the local businesses a chance to be seen and get their name out there.”
“The home-ware, clothing and jewellery are often a side business on farm.
“Many only have an online presence, so this gives them a store front to build word-of-mouth sales.”
Mr Shearer encouraged the community to come out, enjoy a meal from one of the vendors and check out the exhibits.
“Exhibitors will be displaying a wide range of goods and services,” he said.
“Everything from tractors to headers, trucks, bikes and cars.
“There is something for everyone, whether it is new clothes, a new lawnmower or a new drone.”
Mr Shearer said for those looking for some entertainment, this year the event was hosting the Coonamble Show Society yard dog trials, run over two days.
“There will be helicopter joy rides, a fly over by Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association as well as two flight simulators for people to try out,” he said.
“The forecast is for 31 degrees, so perfect weather for people to come out and have look around.”
Coonamble Ag Field Day will be held at the Coonamble Showground, located on the Castlereagh Highway, south of Coonamble on Saturday the 24th of March.
Entry is free and the gates open at 8.30 am.
