STRUAN, an 11,179-hectare (27,623-acre) property located between Rolleston and Comet, has sold for $15.9 million at an Elders auction in Rockhampton this morning.
The buyers were Sam and Jane Barton, Huntly, Clermont, who outbid six other parties.
Mr Barton said Struan would be run as a backgrounding and finishing property in conjunction with the home property Huntly.
"We wanted to secure good country," he said.
"We think securing now is a good call."
The sale equates to about $1422/ha ($576/acre).
Regarded as premium bullock country, the extensively developed freehold property has prolific stands of buffel grass and green panic.
Located 76 kilometres south of Comet, the property has a double frontage to the Comet River and Humboldt Creek. There is a homestead, cottage, sheds, yards, and four bores.
According to marketing agent Virgil Kenny from Elders, Struan has consistently run 3500 bullocks a year.
The property is divided into 22 main paddocks and seven holding and mustering paddocks.
