AN IMPRESSIVE line up of rams reeled in buyers at the Rowley family's Springwaters Poll Dorset Stud annual sale on Friday.
145 of 148 rams cleared to an average of $1592.
In the breakdown, stud rams sold to an average of $2250 and a top of $3750, autumn-drop flock rams averaged $1574 and sold to $2100, and spring-drop flock rams averaged $1310 and sold to $1800.
The volume buyer was Shirley Trust, Nimmitabel, who secured 12 rams.
The top priced ram went to Peter Sturgiss, "Kooradale," Koorawatha.
The ram dropped in April 2014 and had Stockscan figures of an eye muscle area of 31.88 square centimetres and a fat depth of eight millimetres.
The ram was sired by Springwaters 19-12, the 2013 reserve senior champion ram at Royal Sydney Show. He was kept for his early maturity and conformation.
Mr Sturgiss chose the animal for its "power".
"He's a cracker of a ram. He has a powerful hindquarter and a top head," Mr Sturgiss said.
The stud's co-principal Dane Rowley said the ram had "beautiful balance".
He was pleased with the consistency of the sale.
"It was the best offering we've ever had and we're really happy with the outcome," Mr Rowley said.
The sale was conducted by Delta Agribusiness Wagga Wagga agent Aaron Mackay and Elders Young agent Aaron Seaman.
