UPDATE, THURSDAY, 10am: Police will be appealing to the public for information following the discovery of a woman’s body at Tathra, on the state’s Far South Coast, Wednesday.
About 8.30am on Wednesday, October 14, a member of the public contacted police after locating a body in the water at Mogareeka bridge, Tathra-Bermagui Rd.
The woman remains unidentified and the cause of death is yet to be determined.
Police will be addressing the media at 11.30am outside Batemans Bay Police Station.

Wednesday, 8pm: According to an update from the Bega Valley Shire Council, the road at Mogareeka remains closed and might remain so for several more hours as police continue their investigations.
Motorists will need to detour via Dr George Mountain Rd.
No further details relating to the body found in the water earlier on Wednesday morning have been released by authorities.
Earlier on Wednesday: Bega Police are investigating circumstances surrounding a body being found in Tathra Wednesday morning.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said a member of the public notified police of a body in the water at Mogareeka at 8.30am.
Police set up a road block and crime scene at Mogareeka Bridge on Tathra Bermagui Road.
Detours are in place via Dr George Mountain Road from the north, and via Kalaru from the south.
A number of witnesses to the arrival of emergency services spoke to our journalist this morning.
About 10.30am a man drove through the cordoned off area because he was worried about his son who had been out fishing early Wednesday morning.
He said police turned him back saying “it wasn’t a young person”.
A woman who had been cycling in the area about 8.30am said she had seen an ambulance arrive at Mogareeka and a police car with flashing lights, but no siren.
A man who was heading for a surf around 9.30am was in the Lions Park car park when police approached him and asked questions.
He said police told him they had found a body that morning.
