RIDING through the desert, white robes billowing in the breeze, ''Monckton of Arabia'' made his way towards the Gulf gathering of 7000 climate change representatives.
The only problem was that the headline-grabbing climate change sceptic had not been invited to speak at the United Nations conference in Doha.
So Lord Monckton swapped his ''fake sheikh'' robes for a suit and appointed himself representative of Burma - ''while they were out partying somewhere in the souk'', as he put it.
The third Viscount Monckton of Brenchley then launched into a critique of climate change.
''In the 16 years we have been coming to these events there has been no global warming at all,'' he said.
''Our recommendation is that we should initiate very quickly a review of the science to make sure that we are all on the right track.''
Security was summoned, and the peer was escorted out of the building.
