THE Far North Queensland cattle station Rosella Plains has been bought privately for $7.3m by the Simmons family, Emerald.
The 81,600ha (201,635 acre) pastoral holding was marketed with 5000 cattle through Lorin Bishop, Elders, on behalf of brothers Tom and Tony Scholes.
Negotiations have continued on the property since it was passed in at auction on June 7.
Located near Einsleigh and 320km north west of Charters Towers, the property has an estimated safe carrying capacity of about 8000 mixed cattle.
Marketing agent Lorin Bishop, Elders, said pre-sale expectations had the property valued at between $6m and $8m.
The country ranges from basalt country in the north east through to granite country.
Improvements include homes, quarters, sheds, and yards to handle 2000 head. The property is subdivided into eight main and 15 holding paddocks.
Rosella Plains was orginally taken up by the Collins family in 1889.
Mr Bishop also handled the sale of Beverley Hills, Einasleigh, which sold for $2.25m. The sale of the 50,400ha (124,540 acre) property included 1510 mixed cattle. Beverley Hills has an estimated carrying capacity of 3000 mixed cattle.
