AUSTRALIA’S biggest bull sale has finished with a top of $50,000 after the three-day Rockhampton Brahman Week Sale wrapped-up on Wednesday afternoon at CQLX Gracemere.
Top money was paid on day three for a red polled Brahman, Fairy Springs Duracell 3606, by the Curley family, Gipsy Plains Brahmans, Cloncurry.
Offered by Eddie and Debbie Streeter, Fairy Springs Brahmans, Bowen, the 28-month-old was sired by Fairy Springs Duracell 2859 (S) and out of Fairy Springs Crystal 2813 (H).
The bull was in the top 10 percent of the breed for GeneStar Tenderness.
Grey bulls topped at $38,000 when the polled grey bull Glen Oak Mr Bo Jangles (IVF) was bought by Tony Hayne, NVS Brahmans and Northern Veterinary Services, Noonamah NT in a hot bidding contest on Tuesday morning.
The 31-month-old proven sire was offered by Roger, Sue and James Hayden, Glen Oak Brahmans, Yaamba, and sported an impressive set of figures including an eye muscle area of 121 square centimetres, P8 and rib fat scans of 27mm and 15mm respectively and a scrotal size of 44cm.
He was sired by Elrose Trademark (S) and out of Glengarry Miss Hannibal 885 (P).
