Minister for Small Business, Katrina Hodgkinson said KJ Halal Meat would receive assistance through the Office of Trade, Business & Industry’s Regional Business Development Scheme which helps eligible businesses to relocate and expand in regional NSW.
The company is upgrading its abattoir facility in Nyngan, creating eight new jobs and helping to retain another three jobs.
“The NSW Government is committed to supporting businesses in regional communities to invest in growth and create jobs in regional NSW,” Katrina Hodgkinson said.
“KJ Halal Meat is investing around $500,000 in upgrading its abattoir which undertakes halal meat processing for the Australian market.
“The company’s site in Nyngan is one of the few wholly-accredited halal plants in NSW. It has a growing client base in Muslim butcher shops in Sydney and anticipates further growth following improvements made to the plant.
“Assistance from the NSW Government will help this small business to off-set the costs of up-dating the plant and its handling facilities, and create new unskilled and semi-skilled jobs in Nyngan.
“The company also sources its stock from Western NSW and provides services to other local butcheries and value-add producers in the region.
“These additional services help to keep other regional businesses operating. And by sourcing stock locally, the company supports local primary producers improving profitability and quality through supply chain efficiencies.
“By assisting small enterprises in regional areas the NSW Government is supporting sustainability and contributing to the economic growth of businesses in regional communities,” Katrina Hodgkinson said.
KJ Halal Meat Pty Ltd is being assisted through the Office of Trade, Business & Industry’s Regional Business Development Scheme.
