NEGOTIATIONS are continuing on George and Anna Hetherington and family’s 9480-hectare (23,425 acre) Longreach property Muyong which was passed in at auction on February 26.
Bidding reached $2.495 million ($263/ha-$106.50/acre) from the floor before the well-developed property was then passed in on a vendor bid of $2.6m.
Marketing agent Cameron Elmes said three parties were active at the auction. Muyong had received nine inspections and generated about 20 genuine inquiries, he said.
The interest in the grazing homestead perpetual lease property reflects the apparent growing confidence in the rural property market.
Muyong is estimated to run about 8000 sheep or 900 cows and progeny in an average season. It is located 70km north of Longreach and 45km south west of Muttaburra.
The country is described as quick responding open Mitchell Grass downs country with the Bradleys Creek channel running down northern side and other small creeks throughout the property. Muyong features vine tree ridges and semi-shaded downs country supporting a well established stand of Mitchell, Flinders grasses as well as good stands of buffell, and summer and winter Herbages. The property is said to have minimal to no woody weeds issues.
Improvements include a five-bedroom homestead, cottage, machinery shed, steel yards, six stand shearing shed, hangar, and 16 main paddocks serviced by laneways and four holding paddocks.
