TEN international horticultural seed companies have come together to start planting as part of the 2016 National Horticulture and Innovation Expo in Queensland.
Hosted by the Lockyer Valley Growers Inc, the Expo will held on July 27-28 at Gatton and will showcase new vegetable varieties and innovations in seed technology and breeding.
It is the first time a large horticulture expo has been held in the Lockyer valley for more than 15 years.
Terranova Seeds' Michael Sippel said it was a great atmosphere working together to start planting for the expo.
“The Lockyer Valley produces 120 different horticultural crops and to have 10 international seed companies showcasing their varieties will be a really great sight," Mr Sippel said.
"Terranova Seeds have been strong supporters of the Lockyer Valley Growers since it started and our company is very excited about the expo."
The Expo will be held at the Gatton Research Facility on the Warrego Highway and will also provide machinery and innovative technology demonstrations, cooking demonstrations and other industry specific exhibits.
Mr Sippel said Terranova Seeds looks forward to showcasing its leafy greens and vegetable varieties suitable for winter production in the Lockyer Valley.
The other seed companies that will be exhibiting include Seminis, Bejo Seeds, Bayer, Lefroy Valley, Fairbanks Seeds, HM Clause, South Pacific Seeds, Westranell and Rijk Zwaan.
