The Laidley cattle market remained strong for weaners and young cattle at last Thursday's sale.


A total of 781 head were sold at Stariha Auctions Laidley cattle sale on Thursday. The market remained strong for weaners and younger cattle, while export cattle rates were easier.

Rick Kluver and Rebecca Bould, Thornton, sold a line of Droughtmaster cows and calves for $2100. Ian Lindemeyer, Mt Sylvia, sold 10 month old Angus steer calves for an impressive $1180. Mavis Burns, Atkinsons Dam, sold 20 month old Brahman steers for $1635.

Jayke Jackwitz, Lowood, sold lines of 6 month old Charolais calves, with steers making $900 and heifers $860. Col Duncan, Flagstone Creek, sold Charolais calves, 7 months, with steers making $1010 and heifers $870. Ashley Carrington, Woodbine, sold Brangus weaners, with steers making $1060 and heifers $900.

Don Wegner, Fordsdale, sold Hereford cross steers, 10-12 months, for $1115. Clarence Smith, Flagstone, sold Santa steer calves for $905. Hoger Bros, Ropeley, sold 6 month old Charolais calves for $920. Collins Grazing, Anduramba, sold lines of Charbray store cows for $1160.

Charlie Brown, Gatton, sold cows for $1410. Highlands Agriculture, Mt Sylvia, sold Brahman heifers to return an average of $1352. John Ziebarth, Laidley, sold milk tooth Charbray heifers for $1340, steers for $1830 and 14 month old steers for $1255-$1360. Dick Smith, Withcott, sold Limousin steers for $1540.

Rolly Donohue, Clarendon, sold a line of milk tooth Santa steers for $1390. Robin Goltz, Caffey, sold milk tooth Charolais steers for $1410-$1525. Derek Schulz, Gatton, sold Charolais cross weaner steers for $1080 and cows and calves for $1700.

Kev Harch, Laidley, sold 10-12 month old Charolais cross steers for $1150. Craig Manteufel, Blenheim, sold Charolais milk calves for a great result of $1250. Darren Schultz, Mulgowie, sold Droughtmaster weaner steers for $1090. Des Schimidt, Haigslea, sold 6 month old Limousin calves for $855. Graeme Cole, Mt Whitestone, sold lines of Senepol males, 8-10 months, to return an average of $909. Jesse Zischke, Mt Tarampa, sold a line of Brahman heifers for $980.
