ONGOING exceptional demand for both breeders and young cattle saw PTIC cows top $2010 and weaner steers hit $1400 at the vibrant 890 head Shepherdson and Boyd Toogoolawah store cattle sale on Friday.
John Stevenson, who recently sold his Esk property, offered his Charbray herd. The top pen of PTIC Charbray cows made $2010 while others sold for $1680 and aged cows for $1500. Keith Hayes and family, Glamorgan Vale, offered a quality line of Charolais-cross weaner steers. The tops made $1400 with other pens selling for $1290 and $1200. N&H Peddle sold young Charbray store young bullocks for $1550. Jack Murphy sold Droughtmaster/Euro-cross steers 24-30 months for $1525.
D&E Creasey sold Murray Grey-cross steers 20 months for $1310. Ron Dunning sold Limousin/Droughtmaster-cross steers 16 months for $1330. Granite Hill Grazing, Maidenwell, sold Charolais-cross steers 14 months for $1225. Cair Conditioning sold Charolais-cross steers 30 months for $1580 and weaner steers for $1050. Stuart and May Ebbern sold Charolais-cross weaner steers for $1200.
Melissa Thornton sold Charolais-cross steer calves six months for $845. Jamie Gray sold Droughtmaster steers 10-12 months for $910. Wayne Stark sold Droughtmaster steers six to seven months for $795. P Muller, Blackbutt, sold Hereford/Brahman first cross steers 12 months for $1215. Allery and Sons sold Limousin-cross late weaner steers for $805. L&M North sold Simmental-cross steer calves for $800.
Heifers were in great demand, with future breeding heifers selling well in excess of feeder prices. Glen Marshall, Manumbar, sold Droughtmaster heifers 20 months unjoined for $1500. Quayle Cattle Co had Droughtmaster heifers 15 months at $1300. Eskdale Station sold Angus-cross heifers 16-18 months for $1120 and Santa-cross heifers for $1080.
Delcosta sold Charolais-cross heifers 20 months for $1300. Merv Burow sold Charolais-cross heifers 16 months for $1120. Stuart and May Ebbern sold weaner Charolais-cross heifers sold for $980. Cair Conditioning sold Santa-cross heifers for $900. Wayne Hingst sold Droughtmaster-cross heifers 12 months for $935.
PTIC cows were in high demand with Asco International offering PTIC Charolais-cross second calf cows for $1570 and $1560. Silas Holdings had Charbray middle aged cows PTIC for $1410. Eskdale Station sold PTIC aged Brangus cows for $1410 & $1290. N&H Peddle sold Charbray cows for $1360.
Some 2200 cattle are booked for the second Toogoolawah weaner sale on June 23.
