With what started out as a cold morning soon turned into a hot day along with some of the prices at Emerald AgGrow horse sale on Saturday.
Overall 70 of 87 horses sold for an 80 per cent clearance and an average of $7,214.
Ridden mares had an 82 per cent clearance for a $7,527 average while the ridden geldings had a 79 per cent clearance to average not far behind with a $6,864 average.
Cantaur Park Contreau, a rising five year old ridden mare offered by Sylvia Vale Stockhorses initially passed in during its time in the ring after some spirited bidding, then later sold to Scott and Lizette McCamley, Lancefield, Dululu.
Contreau, by One Moore Daddy and carrying bloodlines going back to Hazelwood Conman will join the McCamley’s plant horses.
Second price was shared between a stand out Quarter Horse, Thoroughbred cross all rounder offered by Will and Lindy Kehl Springsure and a Seligman Spin mare offered by Zane Habermann and Kerrie Thomson, Springsure both going for $18,000.
The Quarter Horse cross gelding offered by the Kehls caught the eye of Robin McCosker, Emerald who was out to secure a safe reliable horse suitable for the whole family.
Jack Tucker, the eight year old who rode Pete in the ring clearly caught the attention of everyone in demonstrating the ability of this gentle gelding.
Seligman Champane by Seligman Spin, a ridden mare with very impressive bloodlines also reached the $18,000 mark and found a new home with Chippendale Pastoral Holdings, Allandale, Blackall.
Overall the sale provided a range of horses for varying requirements and prices reflected this with top quality horses being in high demand.
