Five determined mothers in Central Queensland have decided to go against all advice and hold a rodeo as part of a major fundraiser for Theodore Early Childhood Centre (TECCA).
Bronwyn Brunton, Jane Conway, Jess Weimnar, Natalie Goodland and Suzanna Hindle are coming together to help raise much needed funds for their local kindergarten and day-care.
Joining forces at the beginning of the year, these busy ladies have started organising a rodeo featuring bulls and barrel racing and are eager to see this new event become a huge success.
TECCA treasurer and spokesperson Bronwyn Brunton, moved to a cattle property north of Theodore with her husband and three young girls in 2014.
“This year I wanted to join the committee to help with fundraising. It is a bonus to be working with an amazing group of dedicated and like-minded women.”
Theodore Early Childhood Centre is a not for profit organisation that relies on the support of locals and fundraising events to keep the doors open for the children of Theodore and surrounding areas. This essential service operates as a kindergarten and day-care in one for the community.
The TECCA committee members have made it their mission to organise the rodeo and make it an event that caters to everyone. It is a huge task for the ladies but they are dedicated and driven to mark it as a permanent occasion in Theodore’s tourism calendar.
Already securing a date for October 7th at the Theodore Showgrounds, the event will feature a night of bucking bulls, barrel racing, food, bar and live music.
Local business Extreme One Servo Theodore, has come on board as principal sponsor for the night and is excited to be working together with TECCA to help make the night a success.
The profits from the rodeo will go towards overhauling the outside of the centre, making way for new play equipment, grassed areas and a sensory water area for the children.
“This rodeo is huge for us, we are excited about working with Extreme One and motivated to make it a great family night out in Theodore.” Mrs Brunton said.
TECCA will be actively promoting the rodeo throughout Queensland until October and is affiliated with the Central Rodeo Cowboys Association (CRCA).
