Australian Women in Agriculture (AWiA) have kicked off their annual conference in Brisbane, with Ruralco hosting welcome cocktails on Friday night.
The evening included welcomes from local MPs, the Member for Ipswich, Jennifer Howard and the Member for Nanango, Deb Frecklington, who both spoke of their strong connections to agriculture.
The keynote speaker was Rochelle Courtenay, founder and director of Share the Dignity – a charity that works to provide sanitary products to disadvantaged women across Australia, including in drought stricken regions.
Rochelle is the 2016 Cosmopolitan Humanitarian of the Year and Share the Dignity was a finalist in the 2017 Telstra Charity of the Year Awards.
The conference, which is themed ‘Securing Australian Agriculture’, has drawn delegates from across Australia and will continue over the weekend.
