CQLX Combined agents had a smaller yarding than previous weeks of 2095 head. The yarding comprised of 871 steers, 911 heifers, 255 cows, 19x19 cows and calves and 39 bulls. Cattle were drawn from mostly local areas with a few from Monto and as far west as Rolleston.
The market saw increases in almost all descriptions, with slaughter cows easing off last week’s rates while good quality re-stocker and feeder steers lifted. Heifers were also stronger.
Slaughter steers sold to 266.2c, average 245.2c, steers 400-500kg made 284.2c, average 26801c, steers 300-400kg reached 356.2c, average 300.2c, steers 200-300kg made 356.2c, average 324.1c and steers under 200kg sold to 364.2c, average 329c.
Slaughter cows sold to 219.2c, average 200.0c, cows 400-450kg made 236.2c, average 183.8c, cows 320-400kg reached 222.2c, average 164.1c, and cows under 320kg made 180.2c, average 148.3c.
Heavy heifers sold to 270.2c, average 230.3c, heifers 300-400kg made 270.2c, average 250.3c, heifers 200-300kg reached 278.2c, average 246.5c, and heifers under 200kg made 276.2c, average 244.1c. Cows and calves sold to $1100, average $986.
Bulls over 600kg made 258.2c, average 191c, and bulls under 450kg sold to 318.2c, average 255.1c.
