Specialist Western District producers will get their first opportunity this Friday at Ballarat to purchase crossbred ewes suitable for am early summer joining.
All up 12,000 young ewes, aged 1-1.5 years, 17-drop ewe lambs and some mature ewes will be offered, with a large portion mulesed and Gudair vaccinated.
Charles Stewart & Co agent, Gerard Bohan said this year’s lines should come forward in excellent condition following an outstanding and warm early spring.
Many of ewes will be northern and will have bloomed up well off-shears he said. “We would expect prices will higher as a result of an amazing spring lamb-selling season. If a case can be mounted for higher prices, this year it can surely be justified” he said.
