VIRTUAL reality is set to be used for the first time at an Australian bull sale.
The technology, which provides a clearer picture to internet users of what a bull actually looks like, has been embraced to promote Ascot’s annual on-property autumn bull and heifer sale.
The technology enables the viewer to control 3D version of a video. The experience is significantly enhanced with the use of VR goggles, which provides an even more realistic image of the animal compared to a two-dimensional picture.
VR viewers are readily available from office equipment suppliers and electronics stores.
A total of eight bulls have filmed individually as well as group lots as part of the VR experience.
“It really is remarkable how good a look you can get at an animal,” Mr Wedge said.
“Buyers have far greater control when it comes to looking at the parts of bull they want to look at. This technology allows buyers to do just that.”
Elders partnered with Think Digital to create the VR experience.
Ascot will also have the technology on display at Beef 2018 in Rockhampton.
