Last year Northern Territorian Tiani Cook formed the ‘Horses for Courses’ and teamed up with her good friend Natuccia Walker to ride their horses 1000kms from her home Suplejack Downs Staion in the Northern Tanami, across the Northern Territory all the way through to Darwin to raise funds for the ICPA.
And in October this year, Tiani is saddling up again to continue raising awareness and telling stories from the lives of Aussie bush kids, raising funds for Dolly’s Dream Foundation.
Tiani will head a group of riders, who will leave from Glen Helen Resort after fantastic celebratory launch-event on October, 6. They will ride through the spectacular West McDonald Ranges and finish up with a Gala Dinner on October 12, just in time for the Alice Springs Masters Games.
‘While the distance we are riding this year has decreased, the energy around raising awareness has not,” Tiani said.
“We're hoping to include as many people as possible through some good old fashion hospitality; campfire cook ups, sing-alongs, the sharing of horse riding tips and as much fun along the way as we can muster up.
“Together we’re raising awareness of the issues Aussie Bush Kids face; educational inequities; boarding school blues, distance education challenges and social isolation implications effecting mental health.
“Bush kids are tough and resilient, but we want them to know they’re not alone.
“As a mother of four children, living and working on our family cattle station situated 730kms north west of of Alice Springs and 1020kms south of Darwin, we are the most geographically isolated cattle station in Australia.”
