Think of any campdraft and you immediately think of cattle, but have you ever wondered how the cattle end up many kilometres from home and being moved around the course by a horse and rider?
It is the cattle donors of course! Cattle donors are humble people, businesses, companies and families that donate the use of their cattle for the greater good of campdrafting. The ACA ensures these valuable assets are managed to good animal husbandry and welfare standards by stipulating to Committees that cattle must be of a suitable size and in a healthy and strong condition and may only be used once at the same venue.
Next time you’re at a draft stop and thank the cattle donors as without them the sport as we know it would not be possible!
